Unix and Scripting

PHP is a general purpose scripting language that was invented to manage Hypertext transactions via the World Wide Web. In time it grew to encompass many of the same capabilities as Perl, but without the unusual syntax. Compared to Perl it is rather easy to learn. Additionally, it is a nice complement to MEL in this course because in many respects, it looks the same.
